In response to U.S. Representative Darin LaHood (R-IL-16) voting to gut health care and food assistance for his constituents in order to fund tax breaks for billionaires, despite Medicaid being a lifeline for 2,942,000 Illinoisans, and food assistance programs helping put meals on the table for over 1,935,600 Illinoisans, Grundy County Democrats released the following statement:
“Darin LaHood helped deliver a devastating blow to his constituents in the 16th district in order to appease Donald Trump. He helped launch a toxic attack on Illinoisans to rip away quality, affordable health care and take food off of many Illinoisans’ tables — all to give tax handouts to the top 1%. But we’re ready to fight back. Make no mistake: Democrats will ensure Illinois voters have the knowledge and tools they need to fight for working families and hold every Republican loyal to billionaires over working families accountable at the ballot box.
